YELLOW, Purple, Green, Silver, and Orange

Six random facts about myself, apparantly…

~I have really long, strawberry blonde hair that I have always loved. Lately I’m amazed at how the natural highlights in my hair always change position. Now, I have highlights like Rogue: two big blonde streaks in the front of my hair, and it’s kind of creepy because once upon a time I wistfully wanted them, but only as a “if I could change something about my body to make it perfect” thing. Now I don’t want them and I have them. I have seen this “I-have-it-now-because-I-wished-for-it-in-the-past” in other aspects of my body, too, but I’ll only mention this one.

~I’ve been thinking lately of the monthly spotlight in the program at church. Since our ward (church group) is a Student Married ward (which means it consists of married couples and/or their kids who are students-or one is a student- and are married) and each week there’s a feature on a couple/family unit (some couples have infants, toddlers, or both. it makes for really funny get-togethers) in the program, I’ve been thinking of what we’d say if we were ever spotlighted. We’re not sporty couples who “waterski, rock climb, and snowmobile” and we don’t “love life and everything about it.” So I’m slowly compiling a list of unusual hobbies and interests that we do besides read, sleep, work, watch movies, and play video games. So, are you ready for my FACT? We get into tickle fights often.

~I walk around in bare feet the majority of the time in the summer. When I’m not riding the bus or working because I have to have shoes for those. I love the really thick callouses on the bottoms of my feet when snow time comes and I have to put shoes on to avoid frostbite. And no, I don’t care that my feet look funny because I have an abnormally huge space between my big toe and the next toe.

~I think the idea of green sky and purple grass is funny. If I ever got to create my own world (Yes, like God and his Seven Days), I would make green sky and purple grass. But maybe God thought blue sky and green grass would be funny when He made it, and we think it’s normal.

~I enjoy the movie Dogma immensely, and I have rockfan7385 to thank for it. However, there is a difference between liking a movie and wanting to own it. As much as I like it, I don’t want it memorized. I don’t want my small eight-year-old kid (speaking hypothetically, eventually here) popping it in because he’s decided he’s going to peruse all the movies in our collection. The same thing with Donnie Darko. I love it, but I don’t want to own it. Brilliant ideas, not good for innocent minds. And no I won’t lock it up. How would you feel if you knew your parents had a private collection of movies that you couldn’t see?

~Among other things, I have a hubcap, a tie, a dartboard, and a green wand of feathers hanging on my walls; an aardvark next to the upright paper file; a paper crane mobile from the ceiling and lots of rocks on the sill of my bathroom; a gorgeous collection of books that line almost every wall of our living room in a hodge-podge of bookshelves; and a kitchen full of pottery. And this is only the beginning.
